As part of a large-scale renewable energy and home effeciency project, Fern Renewables recently installed completely new insulation throughout a South Lakeland home.

Following a complete revision of this 1930s property's energy effeciency potential it was determined that it had vast areas where no insulation had been installed at all, or the existing insulation was no longer fir for purpose.

The owners had complained of drafts throughout the house, and as the home was built over an undercroft-style basement with no insulation present, this was the first area to receive attention. Given the vast expanse of the property Fern Renewables cut dozens and dozens of insulation panels to fit bettween the suspended floor's joists.

Moving on to other areas of the home, Fern Renewables built new timber frames on which more insulation and plasterboard was to be installed.

The owners now report a significant improvement in insulation, a reduction in noise and drafts throughout the property, and reduced energy bills.
